Vegetables in Different Cultures
How different cultures use vegetables in their traditional meals.
Special dishes from around the world that feature vegetables (e.g., stir-fried vegetables in Asia, ratatouille in France).
Celebrations or festivals related to vegetable harvests in different cultures (e.g., harvest festivals, Thanksgiving).
In this topic, we will look at the different vegetables in different cultures. I will ask each child to bring vegetables and to show the way that they cook and eat it in their cultures.

How vegetable farming affects the environment (e.g., water use, soil health).
Sustainable farming practices (e.g., organic farming, using less pesticides).
The role of vegetables in eco-friendly living (e.g., growing your own vegetables, reducing food waste).
In this topic we will look at vegetables and their different environments. We will use the seeds that the children received and group them into different categories. Children will then place their seeds in different environments to see how each one grows.
Seasonal and Local Vegetables
The concept of eating "seasonally" and why it’s important.
Differences between vegetables grown in warm vs. cold climates.
Benefits of eating locally-grown vegetables for communities and the environment.
In this topic we will talk about seasonal and local vegetables. Children will be asked to categorise the different vegetables.

Leafy Vegetables (e.g., spinach, lettuce)
Root Vegetables (e.g., carrots, potatoes)
Fruit Vegetables (e.g., tomatoes, cucumbers)
Seed Vegetables (e.g., peas, beans)
Stem Vegetables (e.g., celery, asparagus)
In this topic we will learn about the different types of vegetables. The students will do a sorting activity to classify each vegetable.
How Vegetables Grow:
Life cycle of a vegetable plant (seed, sprout, mature plant)
What vegetables need to grow (sunlight, water, soil, air)
Growing vegetables from seeds
In the topic of how vegetables grow, I will take time to explain to the children how this is done, they will also receive seeds so that they can plant their own vegetables.

How the climate in different regions affects which vegetables are grown
In this topic we will focus on different vegetables around the world, students will be required to sort different vegetables under the correct country flag.
Tools Used in Vegetable Gardening
Introduction to basic gardening tools (e.g., shovels, rakes, watering cans, hoes).
How these tools help us plant, care for, and harvest vegetables.
Safety tips for using gardening tools.
Machines Used in Farming Vegetables
Introduction to farm machines that help grow vegetables (e.g., tractors, plows, harvesters).
How technology helps farmers grow more vegetables more efficiently.
The difference between hand tools and machines in vegetable farming.
In this topic we will be looking at different farming machines. The children will be required to name each of the different machines in a worksheet machine.
Processing Vegetables with Technology
How vegetables are cleaned, packaged, and preserved using technology.
Introduction to machines that process vegetables for stores (e.g., peeling machines, cutting machines).
How freezing and canning technology helps preserve vegetables for longer.
In this topic, the children will watch different videos and will be asked different questions to see how much information each child retained from the video.
