Post-Accident Site Visit Evidence
Extent of bicycle and tricycle damage
A close inspection will determine the extent of damage to the bicycle and tricycle. This will enable the investigators to determine the position of each during the accident and the force of impact.
Investigating weather
Determine there were no environmental conditions reported which may have impacted the visibility or attention of the driver.
Inspection of the vehicle
Obtain a detailed assessment of the vehicle, and how functional the brakes and other systems are. This may determine if any technical problems contributed.
Obtain surveillance evidence
Obtain residence or neighbour surveillance footage to visually prove the witness statements and events of the accident.
Follow up on wtiness statements
Clarify any inconsistencies, and obtain any additional information. Partcularly with the toddler bike, tricycle, does not have a helmet, but the bicycle for the larger child's wooden bike did have one.
Investigate liability issues to further determine if the drive were due diligent in their responsibilities, and if the items were placed in a safe location.
