Emotional and psychological
Millions of individuals are feeling more miserable and depressed trying to achieve reach their dreams
Individuals have low self-esteem
This was due to not being able to live up to their standards or the standards of society
The feeling happiness and content with the small things, like spending time with others or reading a book, was lost in numerous people when trying to achieve the American Dream
They measure happiness through how close they are to the Dream
This shows that happiness has become materialistic in those individuals due to their desire to live the American Dream.
Individuals face a sense of inadequacy and anxiety that form in them
They also develop anxiety because of stress due to not reaching their goals and due to any other negative events related to the American Dream
The reason for this is that they have not been able to reach their goal, The American Dream.
There has been varying levels of stress placed on individuals which can lead to mental and emotional breakdowns
Without knowing how to cope with stressors people tend to resort to various forms of addictions or even, in some cases, harm themselves
There is a sense of greed that forms in people's minds.
This is one root reason all the other factors occur.
There is a sense of social isolation which occurs and deepens the psychological effects on individuals and their faimilies
Political
Millions are have shown signs of misery and hate with their country and government
Political conflicts, to an extent, have been improved by the shared values of all the parties that the American Dream will resolve any difficulty and conflict
The American Dream was used as a propaganda and this influenced people to lean towards certain politicians. This changed the government and the future of the country in many ways, including in a negative fashion
It can lead to political polarization and gridlock. This can make it harder for policymakers to address critical issues.
The American Dream led to more corruption in the political system
Economical
There is a significant amount of poverty, especially extreme poverty, in the US that has occurred and been forgotten due to the American Dream
Income Inequality has risen especially for the poorest class in the US
The American Dream increased the greed in people, which has stagnated productivity thus leading to the lowering potential growth rates of the entire economy.
To achieve this Dream their is a lot of money needed. It requires millions of dollars and this can be sometimes unachievable in a life time. This then starts to cause corruption which then leads to the high inequality in wealth and income.
Social
The American Dream promoted upward (economic) mobility for the middle/working class people. Due to this people worked extremely hard to achieve this but the upward mobility seemed like a greater myth than the American Dream itself
Numerous people are victimized by others to achieve material success
It ruined people's relationships with each other because they were to focused on achieving this then spending their time with others. It created social isolation
Individuals were 'forced' to use illegal, more criminally inclined means to attain their goals, because of societal pressure and a sense of desperateness
There is no financial success for the lower and middle classes
