Personal data can only be used in ways that is fair. This means data must not be processed in a way that is damaging, unexpected or misleading
The person or organisation collecting the data must be open and honest with people from the start about how they will use their personal data
Purpose limitation

The purpose must be documented and specific in privacy information that is communicated to individuals
Data must be used for a new purpose unless this compatible with the original purpose if it is not then additional consent must be obtained unless there is a clear obligation or function set out in law.

Storage Limitation

There must be periodic review of data held , and data no longer required should be erased or anonymised

Data can be kept for longer if it is only kept for public interest archiving, Scientific or historical research, or statistical purpose

Sofware Licences
