Renewable and Non-Renewable Energy - Coggle Diagram
Renewable and Non-Renewable Energy
Fossil Fuels are a source of Non Renewable Energy
Fossil Fuels include: Oil, Coal, Natural Gas
Nuclear Fuel is a source of Non-Renewable Energy
Many products are manufactured using extracts from oil and coal
Nuclear reactors use uranium to produce energy
Renewable Energy
Hydroelectric Power: Electrical energy produced from the energy in water stored high above ground level in mountain lakes and reservoirs
Con: It would interfere with farming and destroy natural habitat for wildlife
-Water Levels may rise
Its Renewable
Tidal Power
Tidal Power: Harnessing the energy in moving water
CON:-Rise of water levels - May destroy habitat for Wildlife- Have to build dams/ waste resources
Pro: Use of gravity to harness energy
Wave Energy: Harnesses the energy waves produce to produce energy
Pro- No greenhouse gases or unwanted waste is produced
Con; They have to create an oscillating water column system for using wave energy
Wind: Harnessing energy from the wind produced by the suns heat
Con: Only available in some regions, may kill flying wildlife
Solar Power: uses Photovoltaic cells transferring light energy directly to electrical energy
Pro: Cheap & no production of greenhouse gases
Con: thousands of square metres of PV cells could spoil land and Farming land is lost
Geothermal Energy: is thermal energy stored deep inside the Earth
Pro:Environmentely friendly and cost effective
Con: Generates Waste. Not avaible in all regions
