Chapter 7
The knothole
They found a knothole near a tree at radley's place with a lot of stuff, including carved soap resembling them.
The knothole was filled up by Mr.Radley to prevent the tree from dying
Jem finds the pants he left at radley's place, but they were sewed up
Chapter 8
The snow and fire
Suddenly, at night, Miss Maudie's house catches on fire. Thankfully, some of the furniture could be saved and there were no injured people.
During the rescue for Miss Maudie's place, Scout was abruptly placed with a blanket without her knowing, but she suspected that was Boo Radley, as of they were near the Radley place, to keep her warm on the extreme cold
For unforseen causes, it's snowing on Maycomb. The kids build up an snowman portraying Mr.Avery
Chapter 9
Mockery towards Scout
Even thought she was kept mocked by Cecil Jacobs, Scout kept her composture and avoided fighting to keep the word of her father, which told her to avoid fighting at any means.
Later at night, at the Finch family christmas gathering, Scout kept being mocked around the "Nigger-lover" situation, but coming from her cousing Francis. This time she lost her temper and puched him. This resulted on Uncle Jack punishing her, but after she told him the full story, he aknowledge her reason.
As of the trial of her father to defend Tom Robinson, Scout was mocked at school about it, commonly accused their family as "Nigger-lovers"
Chapter 10
One-Shot Finch and Tim Robinson
Even thought that was not rabid season, Tim Robinson, the dog of the Robinson's, went Rabid. Cal quickly alerted the whole street and called for assistance
With the arrival of Sheriff Heck Tate and Atticus, things seemed under control. Even so, Sheriff Tate asked Atticus to shoot the dog, as he could not do it. Surprisingly, Atticus hit the target with such precision. Then, Miss Maudie tells more about Atticus' marksmanship and how he was called "One-Shot Finch"
Scout thinks of her father, which she saw him as a different father than others, not doing activities like fishing and hunting. This dissapoints Scout
Chapter 11
Jem and Mrs. Dubose
As a punishment for this, Atticus ordered Jem to go every afternoon for a month to Mrs. Dubose's place and read her a book. This punishment makes Jem find out thinks about Mrs. Dubose like her battle with morphine addiction.
After the long punishment, Jem finds out Mrs. Dubose lost her battle and died. Atticus then tells him about the "real bravery", which does not consist on having a rifle on the hands. Jem then finds out that she gifted him one of her camellias.
While the kids passed in front of Mrs. Dubose's. She insulted them and their father with the common "Nigger-lover". In response, Jem went and destroyed Mrs. Dubose's camellia bushes
Chapter 12
First Purchase
Even though they were insulted for being on black territory, they were greeted at the church and they find out many things of black churches, including that only 4 people there knew how to read
After the congregation, they found out many things, like the fact that Zeebo was Cal's son and that she had another life apart of being a housekeeper. As a result, they knew now another point of view of Cal and how she was older than she seemed.
As Jem's now 12 years old, he seemed more mature. After this, Scout now spends her summer with Cal, as Dill could not be there in that summer. As a result, they ended up joining Cal as she went to her black church
