        Tourism and hotel industries are very important economic activities in coastal areas,
        
        Coastal tourism, the biggest sector across the Blue Economy both in terms of Gross Value Added (GVA) and employment, includes beach-based tourism and recreational activities, e.g. swimming, sunbathing and other activities for which proximity to the sea is an advantage, such as coastal walks and wildlife watching.
        
        Maritime tourism
        
        2018, coastal areas accounted for more than 3/4 of the total nights spent in tourist accommodation across, among others, Portugal and Spain
        
        Coastal and maritime tourism depend highly on good environmental conditions

      - Summary:The MMIAH project is committed to the value enhancement of the urban coastal edge of the Atlantic Area through the recovery of disused asset associated with the military, maritime and industrial heritage of coastal cities, facilitating their social use and generating value added activities around them in order to promote cultural tourism as a factor of economic sustainability.

        VR experience - WWI - Pays de la Loire, the experience takes the 'Lieutenant' into a Kite Balloon which is part of a convoy of merchant ships coming from North America and heading to Lough Foyle

        VR experience called 'The Storm, The Sea - The Saldanha', takes place at Fanad Lighthouse, Doengal, during the Napoleonic era. This is where HMS Saldanha & HMS Talbot took shelter during strong gales and heavy seas. Both were headed for Lough Swilly
