Ancient civilizations
Mesopotamia
Location: The author wrote that at first there was no name for the region but later the Greeks named it Mesopotamia meaning "between the rivers". also we know that "Mesopotamia was the birthplace of writing, as well as many other inventions and discoveries that changed the world." Modern Iraq is where Mesopotamia used to be located. (Steele 6)
Architecture: A ziggurat describes and looks like a mountain as its represented. The author stated "A ziggurat is a lasting symbol of ancient Mesopotamia." Also Ur's ziggurat was dedicated to the god of the moon and Ur Nammu. (Steele 24)
Religion: In Mesopotamia some kings were considered gods in their religion. In the text it said "A crescent moon was said to be the boat of the Moon god." Sumarians had the main god of the moon Nanna. (Steele 14-15)
Art: In the text it describes that the Mesopotamians have mastered technology and art only by the eighth millennium. On page 28 it said "They invented the potter wheel which made pottery more production far more efficient." It also described that in the middle east metalwork with copper and tin was more popular as well as making a hard alloy called bronze. (Steele 28)
Writing: In the text it states that early hunters would not use cuneiform for writing neither did nomads. The author said "by around 3300 bce the citizens of Uruk were using about 700 symbols or pictographs." For example cuneiform was used by sticking a stylus into a soft piece of clay. (Steele 12)
Government: Akkad was the first ever empire ruled by one of the greatest rulers Sargon 1st. In the text it said "Sargon was said to be abandoned as a baby." The first official government was made by Hammurabi. (Steele 22-23)
Ancient Egypt
Location: Egypt was along the Nile River along the banks. In the text it said " Desert covers more than 90% of Egypt called the Red Land." For example Egypt was in a desert that was very hot and along the Nile River close to the Kush Kingdom. (Hart 8)
Art: All high class egyptians wore fine gold jewelry even paintings of their gods. In the text it described "You can see the glint of gold everywhere in Egyptian jewelry mines between the nile yielded large quantities." Gold was the most common and popular metal and jewel in Ancient Egypt.

Architecture: the pyramids were built for tombs of fallen kings and pharaohs. In the text it said "The first Pyramid was built as a burial place of king djoser in c. 2650 BCE." For example the pyramids were built in 2650 BCE by Imhotep. (Hart 20)
Religion: The Egyptians were said to have worshipped hundreds of gods such as Khonsu the moon god. In the text it said "Each of the 42 different administrative districts had its own god-." I know because Ancient Egypt had a lot of gods they worshipped.

Government: The government was led by a Pharaoh. In the text it described "The king was not only the most powerful and important man in Egypt he was thought to be a god." I know this because in Egypt the Pharaoh was described as gods that were almighty.

Writing: The scribes of Ancient Egypt were required to be experts at hieroglyphics. In the text it said "Scribes used a different form of writing called Hieratic." For example The hieratic writing was a fast version of handwriting and later on in Ancient Egypt there was faster writing called demotic.

Ancient China
Art: In the text it says in ancient china bronze was made into some stunning ritual and weapons of war. So useless metal could become beautiful art in ancient china. In the text it says the most exquisite boxes were made for the king. (coterall 56)
Writing: On page 11 it said "Often questions and answers were inscribed on the oracle bones." it also said "An ox bone or tortoiseshell was scorched until it cracked." It stated in the text The shang kings used the bones to consult the dead/ancestors. (Cotterell 11)
Religion: In the text it read "The chinese believed the music of the bells calmed the mind and aided."The bells also had no ringer they were just hit like a gong. The people of ancient china believed in the teachings of confucius.

Architecture: In the text it said "The landscape of Imperial China was dotted with walled towns and cities." Their architecture was mainly temples and shrines made for gods and Emperors. Some builders were even forced to do labour on the great wall and grand canal. (cotterell 40)
government: In the text it says "In 221 BC The Chinese empire was formed." This implies that the empire had a ruler named Zheng the first ruler of china. And then his tomb was guarded by the terracotta soldiers.

Commerce: in the text it said "Trade was flourishing under mongol or yuan rule." Silk was also in an abundance on the silk road along with porcelain and ect. It also states that the mongols used to come over the wall for conquest.

Location: On page 42 it says ´´ in most chinese homes 3 generations of the same family lived under the same roof´´. The author also says on page 42 that poorer chinese families slept on mats on the floor. Also on page 42 it says the art on the pillow depicts a wedding. (cotterell 42)
Indus River Valley
location: It started in the southern region of asia. On the website it stated that it holds most of the now afghanistan's land. This all happened around 5000 years ago in bce.

Government: Int text it stated that they a five level government system. The kings were only second while the priests on top. Some people named dalits were classified as untouchable to humanity.

Religion: In the text it said priests and churches were on top of the government. It talked about how the caste system and how high the religious specs were. And everyone was all in brahmanism to support the Brahman.

Architecture: In the text it stated that they were good for their time. They also mentioned that they already had a waste disposal system. They planned and made very good for their times.

Writing: In the text it stated that 400 symbols were deciphered and found out about. Also it mentioned that most scholars and most people struggle to figure out what most of the text means. It rains a huge issue to rediscover writing from ages ago. (
