Ancient Egypt
Location:The author states that in Egypt the desert covers about 90% of Ancient Egypt this is why it's called the "Red Land. I also know that the Egyptians lived along the Nile river and beside canals from along the river. The population expansion, growth of cities, and construction of large buildings, is changing Egypt.
Art: Some of the games played by the Egyptians are still loved today, such as leapfrog, and tug-of-war. There were even board games like snake, and a harder version of senet. There were also many different toys like toy soldiers, spinning dance, also many different types of balls made out of animal skin.
Architecture: Homes were made out of bricks made from the Nile river, the mud they used was dug out of the Nile river and used for houses. They were taken from the Nile river to the building site carried in a leather bucket. They used wood as molds to make the bricks then left them in the sun to dry. They would stack the mud bricks to make the houses and then they would spread plaster all over it.
Religion: The author wrote the Egyptians worshiped many different gods and goddesses and sometimes it was hard to know which was which. I also know that all 42 districts had their own gods and goddesses. Many of the gods were named after animals like baboon, it really sounds like a weird name for a god but this was the god of wisdom.
Government: The king wasn't just the most powerful person in all of the kingdom, he was also a god.The king was known as a pharaoh which means "Great house." The queen of Egypt was also known as a goddesses but was giving the title "Great royal wife."
Writing: The author wrote that Scribes are people who wrote in hieroglyphics, hieroglyphics had over 700 different signs, many more the alphabet we have today. Many people besides scribes couldn't learn it because it was to hard for some people and still is for people today. Scribes used a different form of writing called hieratic, it was a faster way of writing back then.
