Mesopotamia
Location: in the text it said that originally there was not a name for the regain but later the Greeks named it Mesopotamia meaning "between the rivers." There were 2 rivers that flowed through the middle east the Tigris river and Euphrates river. in the book it states that "most of ancient Mesopotamia lay within the borders of modern Iraq."(Steele 6)

Art:in the text it said the mesopotamians wore the jewelry to ward off bad spirits and sicknesses. they made clay pots by the eighth millennium.

Ancient Egypt
Location: on page 8 it said that on the banks of then nile as the "black land" which was named after the rich dark silt. Ninety percent of Egypt is covered by a desert called "red land". According to the text " without this fertility there would have been no civilization in Egypt." (Hart 8)
Art: For a really long time flax provided linen for clothes. The pharaohs would have a fine linen while workers wore loincloths. They avoided wearing linen clothes for women wearing nets over their dress and for men wearing their kilts with leather netting on them. (Hart 54)
Architecture: the first pyramid was supposed to represent a big stairway for the king to climb to join the sun god. Then the true pyramid had formed with sloping sides developed. The idea of the pyramid was to recreate the mound that had emerged out of the watery ground at the beginning of time. (Hart 20)
Religion: The pharaohs where the most powerful in the royal court. When the king came in the room people would kiss the ground at his feet. We know this because one countier boasted that the king insisted that he kiss the royal leg instead of the ground. (Hart 12)
Government:Some people say that the Pharaoh was supposed to perform duties in every temple. They said that normally his place was taken by the chief priest. The chief priest had great power and controlled the wealth.The office of chief priest would hold until the pharaoh broke their hold. (Hart 28)
Writing: Their was only one type of person that would write in egypt they were called scirb's. They were the only people that could write. They didn't write in normal writing tho they used special writing. They called it heliographics.(Hart 34)
Ancient China
Religion: The religion of china is confucianism. Some Confucius teachings where to respect your family and make strong bonds with those in your family. the religion is based off of kindness, respect, and family. (Conterelle 12)
Art: They used soft inks and brushes for paintings and landscapes. They used these brushes for a "wet" look.They also did lined poetry that had to be original. In the text it says "Lined poetry that had to be illustrated in an original way." (Cotterell 32)
Writing: On page 11 it said questions and answers were inscribed on the oracle bone.It also states " an ox bone or tortoiseshell was scorched until it cracked." The oracle bones were used by he shang kings to consult with ancestors. (conterell 11)
Government: The chinese emperor was formed in 221 B.C. The qin soldiers defeated all of their enemies. Zheng took the first title of Qin's emperor. (Cotterell 16)
Architecture: Some of the world's greatest inventions came from China. The emperor encouraged people to development science. They even encouraged technology. (Cotterall 22)
Location: china is the world's oldest civilization. It was under one emperor that was ruled by dynasties. it is also where the religion of confucianism. (Cotterell 6)
Trade:the mongol emporors ruled china and permitted the merchants to trade with everyone freely.they controlled the silk rode that ran from the northern china all the way across asia. the trade thrived and was very good. everyone could travel without any danger. ( Conterell 58)
