Mesopotamia
Location: In the text it said that originally there was not a name for the region, but later the Greeks named it Mesopotamia meaning "between the rivers." There were two rivers that flowed through the middle east, the Tigris River and Euphrates River. In the book it states that"most of ancient Mesopotamia lay within the borders of modern Iraq." (Steele6)
Architecture: In the text it said Ziggurats are a long lasting symbol of ancient Mesopotamia. Also Is said that the Ziggurats are lot like the pyramids in ancient Egypt.
"The Ziggurats themselves had small temples or shrines on top, reached by long stairways" (Steele 24)
Religion:In the text it said that they believed in a lot of gods. They also believed in goats and stuff like that, maybe demons. "Later Mesopot people took up or adapted Sumerian gods, sometimes giving them new names."(Steele 14)
Writing: In the text it said that some of the first cities started to record who owned the business, and some of the sales that they made. Around 3300 BCE the people of Uruk were using about 700 different symbols. "These were pressed into soft clay with a stylus, leaving a wedge-shaped mark that then hardened." (Steele 12)
Goverment: In the text it said that as soon as tardy was a thing they were the center of it. They mostly traded clay tablets,they traded about 10,000. "Cities such as Mari grew wealthy from this revenue." (Steele 36)
Art: In the text it said Vessels were sculpted by expert potters. The Mesopotamians were great with technological and crafts at a really early point in there time. "By 3000 BCE, metalworkers were mixing tin with copper to produce the tough alloy called bronze." (Steele28)

Ancient Egypt
Location: On page 8 it said that on the banks of the nile was the blackland wich was named after the rich dark silt. Ninety percent of Egypt is covered by desert called the "red land". According to the text, "without this fertility, there would have been no civilization in Egypt." (Hart 8)
Art: In the text it said, The Egyptians enjoyed themselves a lot with songs and dancing. They played with interment and made songs with them, after making the song they would dance to it. "We do not know exactly what Egyptian music sounded like, but a small orchestra at a banquet could have string, wind, and percussions sections, and the music probably had a strong beat." (Hart 50)
Architecture: The first pyramid was built around 2650 bce. The idea of the pyramid was to recreate a mound like thing that came from the water. " But by 1000 bce all the pyramids had been robbed of their precious contents." (Hart 20)
Religon: On page 24, it said The Egyptians believed in more than one god. The gods were represented by animals. "Overall, the sun god was the dominant deity in Egyptian religion, although he could take different forms." (Hart 24)
Government: In the text it said, that the royal court was a event that would give to other countries. When people met the king they would sometimes kiss the ground at his feet. "Some of the countries were relatives of the king, some won high office through their ability as Scribes." (Hart 12)
Writing: In the text it said, that the Scribes were trained from a really young age to read hieroglyphs. The Scribes had to learn over 700 different sings. "They could be written from left to right, right to left, or top to bottom." (Hart 34)
