- - - - Location: In the text it said most of ancient mesopotamia is part of modern-day Iraq. Mesopotamia was also located between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Also, according to the book" much of the region is now a hot desert, but many areas were much more fertile in antiquity." (Steele 6)
      - Art: The text shows that Mesopotamians started to make pots from clay and even create a pottery wheel early in their history. They also would decorate the pots with paint, imprints and engravings perfecting their pottery over the years. Something else the Mesopotamians made was decorative ivory
      - Architecture: The book shows Ziggurats represent a mountain stretching from earth to the heavens making them a massive platform that the Mesopotamians made from bricks. They served several purposes being used as royal tombs. In the text, "were thought to be the earthly dwelling places of the gods" (Steele 24)
      - Religion: In the text it said "Sumerians worshiped many gods and goddesses"(Steele 14) That would make them polytheistic believing in more than one god. Also, the book states that they also believed in ghosts, demons, and spirits.
- - - - Location: In the text it said that 90 percent of Egypt's land was covered by desert, which was called the Red Land. Also the Nile would flood, it would begin the year for the Egyptian farmer by bringing deposits of silt. When the water lowered the farmers went to work and "the result was usually a good summer harvest."(Hart 8)
    - - Religion: The text stated "Egyptians worshiped hundreds of different gods and goddesses." Also most of the gods represent different animals. Different districts had their own god that would watch over them. (Hart 24)
