Childhood: Growing up in Ghana, my childhood was similar to many others, with my family, including my parents, grandpa, and older sisters, being a central part of it. I have fond memories of my grandpa sharing stories under his favorite tree, which nurtured my imaginative mind through his rich tradition of storytelling.
Accra Ghana
Accra, Ghana: After my parents moved to the U.S., I and my sisters moved to Accra to live with my grandma, on my mom's side of the family. Living in Accra was different compared to where I lived with my parents because Accra is the capital city of Ghana. Accra is a melting pots of cultures, languages, and tribes . This diversity made it enriching, providing me with the opportunities to learn from different tribes and to experience a variety of traditions, and lifestyles.
Virginia
My family moved to Virginia when I was in 8th grade because of my dad's job. Virginia was different compared to Vegas, I remember wanting to move back to Vegas because I hated it here. We know a lot of people on the East Coast other than my mom's cousin. I found myself in a new school which I ended up moving from after two months. I had to make new friends and adjust to life in Virginia because it wasn't as lavish as Vegas (to me).
Las Vegas, Nevada
Las Vegas, Nevada: My first home in the U.S. was in Henderson, Las Vegas. This was my first time living with my parents after seven years apart. Moving to Vegas introduced me to a different family dynamic. I had to learn to live with my little sister who was born in the U.S. and get to know my family all over. On the bright side, I reunited with family members and was introduced to a community of people who made the transition to the states less stressful
