Homeostasis - Coggle Diagram
Homeostasis
Negative feedback
The body responds to reduces change and or output from a stimulus
Example
Human body temperature is regulated by negative feedback loops. The bodies hypothalamus reacts to the humans temperature levels by shivering when its cold to boost temperature and then sweat when its hot. This is to maintain homeostasis
Causes less of a product
Allows for homeostasis to be maintained
Ways for our body to maintain homeostasis
Positive feedback
The body responds to increase change and or output from a stimulus
Example
In childbirth, when the baby is in the cervix and its time to come out, the body starts contractions because of the release of oxytocin from the body becoming stronger over time
Causes more of a product
Types of feedback oops
Stimulus
Something that causes a change in the body, e.g body temp
Receptor
An area where the body detects a change in environment
Control
Where the set point is regulated
Effector
The body response to bring the body back to normal (maintain homeostasis)
