He was sent as an evangelist missionary to Wasmes, in the mining region of Borinage in Belgium.
1880
Van Gogh begins learning the skills needed to become an artist.
1888-89
"Van Gogh moved to Arles in souther France. He bigins suffering from mental problems. He cuts off his ear and commits himself to a mental asylum in Saint Remey. In this period of time, Van Gogh painted most of his famous works including The Sunflowers, Starry Night Over the Rhone and The Starry Night".
1890
On 29th July 1853, while walking in the fields, he shot himself in the chest. He returned to the Ravoux Inn, where he died in his bed two days later in the arms of his brother.
