- - - - Allah (SWT) is transcendent + close to humanity/ creation, so therefore imminent
      - He (SWT) still holds His transcendent attributes while still being close to His creation at the same time
      - everything is therefore dependant on Allah (SWT)'s creative power, and from Him comes the idea continuous creation
      - everything is temporary, and is produced from a process of creation and re-creation
      - He is beyond creation, remaining transcendent at all times - we cannot see Allah (SWT)
  - - - BEARING WITNESS
        
        shahadah puts Allah (SWT) above all and first in every muslim's life
        
        'mindfulness' of Allah (SWT) can be seen in shahadah when used in daily prayer
        
        Muhammad (SAW)'s mention in the shahadah establishes his unique role in delivering Allah (SWT)'s message through the Qur'an + his role as 'seal of the prophets'
      - PUBLIC DECLARATION
        
        shahadah = ultimate declaration + public testimony of truth
        
        saying shahadah isn't only 'proof' of faith, but 'proof' of unquestionable nature of the statement
      - IN CONVERSION
        
        used as a mean of recognising conversion
        
        must be recited twice with intent to become muslim
        
        state of mind must be maintained + disciplined approach to life must be followed
        
        reflection of eternal fact
      - UNDERLINING PURPOSE OF LIFE - BELIEF IN ONE GOD
        
        it is argued shahadah is the foundation which brings together all pillars
        
        shahadah is said to the newborn + to the dying, and is key in prayer
        
        shahadah isn't just a declaration - it serves as a constant reminder of Allah (SWT)'s oneness, the role of Muhammad (SAW) as the final messenger, and to facilitate being Allah conscious
        
        ASLAN: 'This deceptively simple statement is not only the basis for all articles of faith in Islam, it is some ways the sum and total of Islamic theology.'
      - UNDERLINING PURPOSE OF LIFE - MUHAMMAD (SAW) AS THE FINAL MESSENGER
        
        the Qur'an is Allah (SWT)'s ultimate message of guidance, but Muhammad (SAW)'s actions are also exemplary guidance for living; without Allah (SWT)'s guidance, humanity would die
        
        Muhammad (SAW)'s sayings + behaviour have been safely recorded, recounted + reminisced and later cherished so muslims are guided + encouraged to replicate them
        
        SHERIF: 'With miracles, clear proof and a Book in its language, Allah (SWT) interacts with creation and offers guidance through teachings of justice, glad tidings and warnings.'
- - - - served as the final message for humanity from Allah (SWT)
      - his first revelation was in a cave, and the revelations following this were more public, seen + recorded by others
      - revelations continued as Muhammad (SAW) was the only one capable of handling them
    - - main message: the Sahifa (scrolls)
    - - main message: the Injil (gospel)
    - - main message: the Torah
    - - main message: the Zabur (psalms)
- - - - a messenger of Allah (SWT), and was the angel that brought down the revelation
      - also appeared to Isa (AS)'s mother, and is otherwise known as the archangel
    - - oversees mundane matters, also known as giver of rain
      - only mentioned once in the Qur'an but there is vast mythology surrounding Mikail's history; e.g. involvement in Muhammad (SAW)'s first victory, being the first angel to bow to Allah (SWT)
      - Mikail also had a role in Muhammad (SAW)'s heart being purified
    - - angel who announces the day of judgement, blowing the trumpet to announce the moment of the destruction of the universe, + announce the resurrection of the dead
    - - Israil - angel of death; the most feared, claiming the souls of the departed + stores them in the barzakh until day of judgement where they are released and rejoined with resurrected bodies for questioning
      - in the grave, the dead are questioned by Munkar and Nakir to test ppl's faith
      - Ridhwan - guardian of heaven
  - - - imminent, and only Allah (SWT) knows the appointed time
      - the last trumpet will announce its arrival, and all the dead will be raised and every soul is tried before Allah (SWT)
      - all personal records are revealed + distributed to everyone, right hand for the virtuous, left hand for the doomed
      - judgement will be pronounced
    - - full of hypocrites, polytheists, sinners, tyrants, immoral peoples, arrogant peoples
      - those sent to hell are put in chains, made deaf, blinded + dumb, + guarded by 19 fierce angels
      - a furnace, fanned by winds, is constantly burning, and those sent to hell are tortured in full view of others
      - hell is like a bottomless pit with a stream of boiling water
      - those in hell are given clothes of liquid pitch; their skin is branded, consumed by fire them renewed to experience the pain again
      - the ppl in hell are given foul foods - decaying, putrid + thorny, simmering at boiling point in a person's intestines
      - in hell the sounds of groaning + wailing are heard constantly
      - [QUR'AN 44:43-46] "Verily the tree of Zaqqun will be the food of the sinful - like molten brass; it will boil in their insides. Like the boiling of scalding water."
