Ancient China
Art: In the text it said " During this period Sun Zi wrote The Art of War, the worldś oldest military handbook, which gave advice to nobles on the practice of warfare.¨ Eventually the northwestern state of Qin was victorious. Also in 221 B.C united the feuding lords under a single empire. (Cotterell 14)
Writing: In the text it said " The Shang king used oracle bones to consult the ancestral spirits." People would read the cracks in order to discover answers to questions. An ox bone or tortoiseshell was placed on a fire and scorched until it cracked. (Cotterell 11)
Religion:
In the text it said "As a result, the Chinese came to see themselves as a part of a greater family that encompassed not only the living thing but also the dead and the unborn." This uprising turmoil led Confucius to make an overall outlook. He said that a good emperor should treat their people good and fairly. (Cotterell 12)
Architecture/Technology: On page 22 the text says ¨ Watered powered blast furnaces created a blast of heat to improve the cast iron production. The magnetic compass was an ancient Chinese invention.¨ Also in the book it says that ¨ Earthquake weathercock was used to detect earthquakes when the ball fell from the dragon. (Cotterell pg 22)
Government: In the book the text says ¨ The first emperor had a big impact on Chinese civilization. Most of the emperors were either harsh or unfair.¨ The text also states that weapons and violence was a big part of their life. One example is that weapons were displayed. (Cotterell pgs 14, 15, and 16)
Trade (Commerce): On page 58 the text says ¨ The Silk Road was spanked across China and Asia, the road ensured the caravans to travel without any danger. They earlier used silver or bronze coins for payment, they used paper money 2,000 years later.¨ The author eventually wrote on that road and they sold silk, spices, tea, porcelain, and lacquer wear. (Cotterell pg 58)
Location: On page 6 the text says that ¨ The mountains and the desserts cut China off from the rest of the other cultures.¨ The text also states that in 126 B.C., China realized they were not the only people or culture in the world. Ancient china was also not affected by any other culture or countries. (Cotterell pg.6)

Religion: In the text it said ¨ They spoke a language called Sanskrit, which became the basis of many modern South Asian languages.¨ Also they left behind 2 major collections of literature: 1. Mahabharata 2. Ramayana. Lastly The Vedas are mostly religious texts, but they also described famous victories of the Aryans as they invaded India.
