function word - expresses a grammatical relationship
used to make it easier phonetically
stative verb - describes a state
diexis - lexis that identifies context
virtuous error - non-standard form form with logic
deletion - omitting the final consonant
substitute - swapping one phoneme for another
addition - adding an extra vowel to a word's end eg doggie
assimilation - changing one sound for another (early plosives)
reduplication - repeating a whole syllable eg mama
consonant cluster reduction - reducing [cc] for ease eg pider = spider
