Principles
CARP Design Principles
Contrast - Items on a page look different from one another. This helps the viewer differentiate more important information from less important information.
Alignment - items on a page line up with each other. This creates consistency, unifies and organises the content.
Repetition - Items that are alike look alike. This means design elements are repeated. This creates consistency and helps the viewer recognises similar items.
Proximity - Items that are near each other go together. This helps the viewer associate related items with each other.
Usability Principles
Safety
Safety refers to protecting users from harm or potential risks. This involves making the user feel secure while interacting with the webapp. This can be done through secure data, authentication processes and guidelines for safe usage.
Utility
Utility refers to the usefulness of the webapp. The webapp provides useful features and functions that effectively fulfill the user’s needs and goals. Each webapp provides a clear value and helps users accomplish their tasks.
