Ethical dilemma
Is it ethical for a doctor to make medical procedures without the patient's consent when in
surgery during a life-death situation?
A study was made in Querétaro to scope out what mexican doctors thought was ethical in cases where the patient does not give their consent to undergo a procedure but would die if they didn't.
Most doctors said that it wasn't ethical do undergo the procedure without the patient's consent, even if that meant death.
Fewer doctors said it was not moral to comply and let the patient die if it is within the doctors' abilities to save them even without the patient's consent.

perspectives
Patients
Many patients imply that they have given their consent, but later take it back when the results are not what they wanted or expected; to them, its not ethical to undergo a procedure without explicit consent.
Doctors
Its a 70% vs. 30% struggle with 'not ethical without the patient's consent' at the head (that's the 70%), because they do not want to get sued and tarnish their reputation; the other 30% recognizes that their job is to save the person, regardless of the circumstances.
Lawyers
Will solely abide to the law, if informed consent was given or if consent was implied depending on context.
