Classroom management is a very important and crucial step all teachers need to accomplish in the beginning of the year. Doing so, will prepare the students of what you expect of them and also let them know what they expect of you.
Strategies
You can set the expectations by creating a safe and welcoming environment for all students, model appropriate behavior, build tight knit relationships with ALL students, and establish daily routines.
IRA
Interactive Read Aloud is a great strategy for involving students into reading time. You introduce the text, read the text, discuss the text, and then respond to the text. Think back to lesson plan we did at the school.
Planning
Planning a successful class requires informing the students how you envision the class to go the entire academic school year. Plan how you will get students attention, and how you will appropriately handle situations.
Teachers need to plan and provide appropriate books for IRA's
When making a lesson plan, it is important to include how to determine if students were successful in understanding the lesson. This can be informal assessment.
Theory
In theory, preparing and having back up routines will allow unprecedented events to move swiftly.
Phonological Awareness is being able to recognize and manipulate sounds that make up a spoken language.
Phonemic Awareness is the ability to notice, think about, and work with the individual sounds.
Key skills: Counting, Categorizing, Rhyming, Blending, Segmenting, Manipulating, (Adding, Subtracting, and Substituting)
Dyslexia
Dyslexia is a disorder that affects students ability to accurate identify letters and sounds.
