Stand-alone virus that can replicate with intention to spreading to other computers; often uses networks to to search for computers with weak security and are prone to attacks.

Software that floods the user's computer with unwanted advertising, usually in the form of pop-ups, redirecting to fake websites which contains promotional adverts
