What is a microorganism?

A microorganism is a live organism that so small that you have to use a microscope to see it.
There are so many different kinds of microorganisms like fungi, protozoa and lastly algae.

Bacteria

Bacteria is everywhere. The bacteria cells are even smaller than the animal cells or plant cells. Most of the bacteria cells are harmless but some can make you ill.

Fungi

Fungi is not always a microorganism. Many fungi, are mushrooms and toadstools, is big enough to see it.

Food chains

The first organism in the food chain is called the producer.
And all the others in the food chain are the consumer, most of the animals are consumers. Consumers that eat only plants are herbivores, and the animals that eat other animals are carnivores. Animals that catch and eat other animals are predators, and the animal they eat are their prey.

Decomposer and decay

Some microorganisms can break down organic matter when they feed on it.

Roles of decomposers

Most of the time, decay by microorganisms is useful.Microorganisms break down the dead bodies and animal waste.
