Saul/Paul of Tarsus: Originally anti-Christian, Saul converted after being temporarily stricken by blindness. He took the name Paul and began preaching and writing about Christianity, especially in Greek cities. He would become extremely influential on early Church doctrine and practices, notably moving away from Jewish law and stressing the importance of converting Gentiles (non-believers, specifically non-Jews). Executed, possibly by beheading, around the same time as Peter in Rome (Novak 260-262; BBC).
