6A-Social cognition
Attribution
Process where we evaluate our own and other peoples behaviour
Internal attribution
When we judge based something personal within individual,eg:personality, atittude, mood, effort.
Example:Peter is "lazy" so he didn't study for the test
External attribution
When we judge behaviour based off situational factors
Eg:Peter didn't study for a test since his GRANDMA died
Biases-Fundamental attribution error
Def: To overestimate influence of personal characteristics and underestimate the impact of situational factors on other people’s behaviour.
example:The just world belief refers to the belief that people generally get what they deserve. Bad things happen to bad people and good things happen to good people. This false thinking leads us to blame people for their misfortunes.
Physical cues
Physical cues consist of appearances, how we look, act, behaviour, leading us to create judgements
They express our feelings, intentions in ways WORDS can't be expressed.

Social cognition
Social cognition: Allows us to understand others behaviour, intentions, maintain and establish close relationships, communicate better with others.
DEF: How we perceive, think about , use information to understand us and others in different social situations.
Eg:1960 Bobo Doll experiment where adults were aggressive to doll to see if children would replicate.
Persons perception
Def:Mental processes us humans use to think about evaluate other people based off perceptual information
Mental processes:Things human mind can do, eg: thinking, reasoning, perception, memory.
Persons perception is based off perceptual informnation-->Our recognition, interpretation, response to sensory info
Body language
Def:Silent , non verbal communication through facial expressions, gestures, body movements.
Advantages: Helps us better understand others+ their feelings.
Behaviour
Def:How ones acts, conducts onself
Shows whether someone has empathy or is self-centered
Attitudes
Evaluation a person makes on an object, person, event, issue.
Criteria of an atittude
CSEE---It is an evaluation, it is consistent and stable, it is learned through experiences
Trii-Component model of attitudes
Affective, behavioural, cognitive
First impressions
They affect decision making and interpersonal interactions.
