Animation techniques
tweens using keyframes
Motion: both motion paths and classic tween - moving a shape or shapes from point A to point B over a set period of time
-
Short for "in-between", and refers to the creation of successive frames of animation between key frames.
"shape tweening" and "motion tweening" processes, where the user can define two key frames and Flash will automatically create the inbetween frames.
-
ease in/ ease out
Easing creates a more natural appearance of acceleration and deceleration by adjusting the frames between two keyframes by gradually adjusting the rate of change.
-
-
run and walk cycle
Is a series of frames or illustrations drawn in sequence that loop to create an animation of a walking character.
-
Walk cycles can be broken up into 4 key frames, namely Forward Contact Point, Passing Pose1, Back Contact Point and Passing Pose 2. Frames that are drawn between these key poses.
lip syncing
-
Animate has an auto-lip sync function – in which you match the mouth sounds that you have created for the character and then pair the mouth layer to an audio file that has the speech track contained within it.
onion skinning
Lets you look at many frames of a movie at once, as though each frame was drawn on traditional transparent paper and layered.
Onion skinning tools are located at the bottom of the timeline where the player buttons are located.
Frame by frame
Refers to animation that is created by manipulating an image or an object in small ways over a series of "frames" or pictures, then playing those frames back at a quick pace to create the illusion of motion.
hinges and pivots points
Changing the pivot/hinge point (The little round circle displayed when you use the Transform Tool) allows you to rotate or move an object from that point rather than from the centre of the object, which is the default position.

rotoscoping - a technique in which you trace (draw) over live-action film to create a frame by frame animation.
