-
-should be timely (e.g., give feedback immediately) and on-going
-
-
What effective feedback looks like:
If on paper: clearly written in language that the students can understand. Students who are ESL/Spec Ed. should also be able to understand and determine the next step using simplified language or something more visual like a chart or rating scale.
Sounds like
-encouraging words, options given, a two-way conversation between teacher and students or between peers.
Feels like: reassuring, encouraging, and motivating. Students are clear on where they are, what their options are, and on their way to achieve their learning goal
Assessment As Learning

Assessment Of Learning
Summative Assessments: Using a variety of methods, teacher determines if student has reached learning goals or curriculum expectations outlined earlier in the unit.

Used by Teachers to summarize the learning at a given point of time. The information is also used to support communication with the student, other teachers, or parents.
Thoughts
-
My concern is that principals normally set report card deadline many weeks ahead of the time the are handed out. Thus many teachers are scrambling to get the marks in and input them. As a result, sometimes we fast-track to Assessment OF learning much earlier than we should
