Household Roles, Rules, Boundaries & Expectations
Kitchen
If you make a mess, clean up after yourself
If you didn’t buy it, ask before using it.
Put things back where you found them. Seasonings that are organized should be put back how you found them, alphabetically.
Personal items should not be left on counter tops. Shared spaces are not for storage or placement of personal items.
Dirty dishes should not be left anywhere except inside the dishwasher. If a dish needs to soak, it should be placed in the right side of the kitchen sink, and you shall inform the other person when you do it. Dishes should not be left to soak longer than 4 hours, and should never be left overnight.
If the dishwasher is full, run it. Exceptions if anyone needs to shower or otherwise needs the water.
If you will be using the kitchen for food preparation that takes longer than 15 minutes, you should give advance notice of when you will be using the space to ensure it does not conflict.
If the garbage bag is full, remove the bag for waste disposal (it may be placed in the front hall) and replace the bag. Do not compress the garbage down and push the bin back into the cabinet when full. If it overflows, clean up what falls.
If you break something that doesn't belong to you, say something. Offer to replace what you break, where applicable.
Bedrooms
Your room is to be treated as your personal apartment. Entry access will not be granted without advance permission, with exception for emergencies.
Bedrooms should be kept clean of all trash, especially food waste or beverage containers.

Lights, computers, and other energy using items should be turned off when not in use.
Games especially should not be left running that are not actively being played, as GPU usage increases power consumption by up to 1000w.
Bathrooms
If you finish a roll of toilet paper, replace the roll on the dispenser with a fresh one. The roll should be oriented such that the paper dispenses from over the top.
If while using the toilet, the seat or rim of the toilet becomes soiled by bodily fluids such as feces, blood, or urine, you shall clean it off before leaving the room. Do not under any circumstances leave this behind for the other to clean.
Any messes you make should be cleaned before you leave, especially if they involve the toilet, sink, or bathtub. Be courteous and hygienic.

Interpersonal Boundaries
Any personal boundary that is reasonable and stated clearly and respectfully shall be observed and respected.
Any boundary that creates conflict shall be contested only in group therapy or under mediation of a third party such as a mediator or attorney.
-
If either party requests space from the other at any time for any reason, it must be respected.
No yelling, shouting, screaming, name-calling, swearing, personal attacks, or otherwise abusive language is acceptable under any circumstances.

Note: This is a draft. This should not be seen as an attempt to dictate or to control, but rather as opening a door for communication. This is where we both get to communicate our needs and expectations for how our relationship is going to function from here on. I have opened this to collaboration so that you are able to have equal and fair treatment.
Car
The car is not to be left at, under, or near 1/4 of a tank when you come home. The next person to drive it should always have more than 1/4 tank. If it is below 1/4 tank, please fill it at your earliest convenience to be above 1/4 tank, to preserve life of the car.
-
You are allowed to use the car to travel to appointments for professional/medical purposes but must get prior approval to avoid schedule conflicts.
