CAN
Possibility or ability.
For example:
He can play the piano.
CAN'T
Disability or lack of ability.
For example:
She can't understand the instructions.
HAVE TO
Imposed obligation.
For example:
I have to study for my exam tomrrow.
DON'T HAVE TO
Absence of obligation.
For example:
I don't have to go to work today.
MUST
Strong or personal obligation.
For example:
They must be here by 7:30 am.
MUSTN'T
Strong or personal prohibition.
For example:
We mustn't be late for the appointment.
SHOULD
Recommendation or advice.
For example:
He should go to the doctor if he's not feeling well.
SHOULDN'T
Discourage or warn.
For example:
You shouldn't eat so much junk food.
Obligation modals are used to express the need, obligation or prohibition to do something.
