POLYTECHNIC UNIV OF VALENCIA
Time-domain THz spectroscopy system for sorting and identifying plastic samples for recycling purposes based on single versus multi-layer plastic
AMIRKABIR UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY
To detect contamination and cross-linkage during mechanical recycling, virgin and recycled low-density polyethylene and linear low-density polyethylene are subjected to gel permeation chromatography, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry.
UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL
The characterization of post-consumer recycled (PCR) HDPE during extrusion blow molding was done using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), rheology, color analysis, and mechanical testing.
BOREALIS
The utilization of Temperature Rising Elution Fractionation in conjunction with Gel Permeation Chromatography (TREFxGPC) allows for precise quantification of polyethylene and polypropylene content in blends of polyolefins, facilitating their recycling into more in-demand uses.
KURUKSHETRA UNIVERSITY
X-ray diffraction analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy were used to analyze the structural and morphological changes in recycled polypropylene reinforced with bio-waste Delonix regia pods that were made by extrusion and injection molding and exposed to gamma radiation.
BEIERSDORF
Under accelerated testing conditions, materials that recycled HDPE (rHDPE) plastic pellets release into 95% ethanol are analyzed using gas chromatography coupled mass spectrometry (GC/MS).
UNIVERSITY ABDELHAMID IBN BADIS
An exfoliated structure formed by the mixtures of PP/PP-g-MA/PA66 reinforced with rPP was revealed by X-ray diffraction analysis.
INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
With scanning electron microscopy, changes in the surface morphology of plastic waste with age were noted. Low levels of degradation for aged plastic waste were confirmed by the Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy results, which are also supported by the high level of oxygen found.
UNIVERSITY OF BABYLON
The structure of the (PP/PE) blend and its composites reinforced with sawdust, as well as the structural characteristics of treated and untreated sawdust, were investigated using infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Another study used a DSC device for thermal analysis.
GHENT UNIVERSITY
Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) is used to analyze the thermal behavior of compounds in recycled PE/PP blends. A non-linear calibration curve is implemented to correlate the evolutions of crystallinity with blend composition under controlled time and temperature conditions.
TROY UNIVERSITY
Raman and near-infrared (NIR) spectrometry were used to monitor PE content in rPP with PLSR modeling. PCR was employed to analyze PE content in rPP with NIR spectrometry.
