Definition of first aid
First aid is the skilled application of accepted principles of treatment
during an injury or illness using available materials and facilities. It aims to treat a
casualty until professional medical help is available.
Purpose of first aid
•preserve life
To making sure the injury is not life-trheatering for the casualty by carrying out the emergency procedure.
•prevent condition from worsening
Found out to do with the current casualty condition.see if they are bleeding or suffered fracture.to clean the wounds to prevent infection or other problem.
•promote recovery
This can be done by arrangging prompt emergency medical help.remember that simple first aid can effect a short or long term recovery of an injury.
The principle of first aid
Stay Calm: Approach the situation calmly to avoid causing additional stress to the casualty or yourself.
Assess the Situation: Quickly and calmly assess the situation to understand the nature of the emergency.
Safety First: Ensure the safety of yourself, the casualty, and bystanders.Never put yourself at risk.
Early Treatment: Treat the most serious or life-threatening conditions first.
Comfort and Reassure: Comfort and reassure the casualty to help alleviate theirdi distress.
Summary
First aid are involving any immediately treatment to promote early recovery and prevent any further injury before the professional medical provider arrive by following the principle of first aid.before first aid,we need to make sure to do a proper assessment,proper hygiene and infection control are under control to make sure both parties are protected.
Protection from infection
•Use protective equipment
Wear gloves,mask or other available equipment to reduce risk of contaminated body fluid of germ.
•clean the area
Make sure area are clean to reduce the risk of infection.
•proper disposal
Dont let any used things left there,if possible make sure that everything are dispose properly.
•Personal hygiege
Not only before providing first aid we need to be sterile,but also after providing first aid we need to make sure wash our hand to avoid self-contamination.
