Discuss how systolic and diastolic blood pressure respond to dynamic and static exercise.
Static exercise often increases diastolic blood pressure because sustained muscle contractions create prolonged resistance in the arteries. This causes blood vessels to remain partially constricted, even during the heart's relaxation phase, leading to elevated diastolic pressure. This effect does not occur during dynamic exercise.
.
This doesn´t happened in dynamic exercise both pressure increase
Also increase systolic pressure
Sustained muscle contraction create prolonged resistance in arteries blood vessels remain constricted even during relaxing phase of the cardiac cycle elevate diastolic pressure
Increase diastolic blood pressure
Analyze systolic and diastolic blood pressure data at rest and during exercise
Systolic pressure normally rises
Diastolic pressure changes very little
Compare the distribution of blood at rest and the redistribution of blood during exercise.
More blood required by muscles
MUSCLES arterioles DILATE.
Capillary network in MUSCLES is more OPEN
OTHER ORGANS vessels CONSTRICT to reduce the flow there and keep the pressure
Describe the cardiovascular adaptations resulting from endurance exercise training.
Increased left ventricular volume
This increment in left ventricular volume results in a increased stroke volume
Also results in a lower resting and exercising heart rate
Capillarization increases
The oxygen difference between arteries and veins is higher
Explain maximal oxygen consumption.
Maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) represents the functional capacity of the oxygen transport system and is sometimes referred to as maximal aerobic power or aerobic capacity.
Sometimes known as aerobic capacity
Is the maximum amount of oxygen that can be consumed while exercising at maximum capacity.
Used as a fitness measure.
It is also a parameter of interest for physiologists working with both severely limited patients and elite endurance athletes.
Discuss the variability of maximal oxygen consumption in selected groups Factors that influence it:
Training status: is higher in trained people
Sex: is higher in male
Age: lower in children and elders, max at 20s
Type of exercise: higher in endurance based sports than in explosive sports
Discuss the variability of maximal oxygen consumption with different modes of exercise
Numerous studies show that VO2max can be increased by working out at an intensity that raises your heart rate to between 65 and 85% of its maximum for at least 20 minutes three to five times a week.
As much muscles involved, higher levels of VO2max
When running, cycling, etc. the VO₂ max will be higher because more muscles are being used, compared to static sports like arm ergometry where the participant is sitting down and only using their arms, which requires less oxygen going to the muscles.
