The Circulatory System - Coggle Diagram
The Circulatory System
What is the circulatory system?
The human circulatory system is made of the heart, blood vessels and blood.
The human circulatory system pumps oxygen, food, water to the rest of the body. We need the above three to survive
There are two parts to the circulatory system.
The first pumps blood from the heart to the rest of the body and back.
The second pumps blood from the heart to the lungs and back.
How does the organs in the
circulatory system work together?
The heart pumps oxygen-rich blood to all parts of the body
via arteries
Arteries branch out into capillaries
The cells produces energy from the digested food and oxygen. In the process, CO2 and waste materials are produced.
The capillaries merge to form veins
The blood carries waste materials to the organs that removes them from the body
CO2 rich blood is sent to the lungs.
What are the parts of our circulatory system?
The Heart
A muscular organ to the left of our chest, pumps blood all the time to different parts of the body, and is made of special muscles called heart muscles. We cannot control these muscles, and each heart beat is a cycle of contraction and relaxation of its muscles. The average heart rate is 60-70 bpm.
The heart rate can change, depending on multiple variables. When we exercise, our heart rate increases. This is because the body requires a larger supply of digested food and oxygen for respiration as it gives out energy.
Blood Vessels
Tubes which the blood flows through. They are a network of tubes and are all over the body.
Blood
It transports digested food, oxygen, water, carbon dioxide, and waste materials to different partts of the body.
It flows through the blood vessels.
How do systems work together?
They cannot work alone, and are interconnected. Some organs can be part of multiple systems.
