ENCRYPTION/ALAN TURING
ENCRYPTION
used for
storing
or
reasmitting
secret datas
this is called
Encryption
, that happen turning the original data text called
plaintext
into the
ciphertext
the
ciphertext
is a code, the
technique
used to Encrypt the plaintext, one example:
substitution of letters
for numbers or the
rotation
of letters in the
alphabet
, or the casual miscellous of the
256 ASCII's characters
these technique are semple and obsolete, today we have massive complex algorithms of encryption.
this code is written in a
key
, used for decrypt, so who try to decrypt the datas
without
the key, it could need
billions of years to decode it
2 types of
Encryption
methods:
Symmetric Encryption
use the same key to Encrypt and Decrypt
Asymmetric Encryption
requires 2 separate keys, one public key to Encrypt ,and one private key to Decrypt, so it's more secure
the public key is used to encrypt, but can't decrypt like the private key (owner exlusive)
the opposite work is called
Decryption
ALAN TURING
considerated the "FATHER"
of compuer science
born in london in 1912
he studied mathematics
at cambridge in 1930s
after graduating, he
went to priceton, US
here started to develop
the
TURING MACHINE
,
in grade to read series of 0s and 1s
to solve problems and tasks
he turned back in England to help the Allies win the 2nd ww,
developing
THE
COLOSSUS
this machine was created in contrast of
THE
ENIGMA
nazi machine in grade to Encrypt war plans
COLOSSUS
is the 1st fully electronic digital computer
in 1946 he developed
THE
AUTOMATIC COMPUTING ENGINE
dotated of a high-speed memory and storage program
in 1950
he wrote:
"Computing machinery and intelligence"
, that deal a 1st concept of artificial intelligence
he compared human body parts to informatic devices, heeling cotroversy with other scientists
he create
THE
TURING TEST
, a test where a questioner asks same questions to another human and a computer.
if the questioner can't distinguish if the answer is from the human or the computer, the machine can be described as
"thinking"
in 1954
he felt lots of marginalised, cause his homosexuality.
he suicide on june from poisoning, leaving the world a permanent legacy
lots of problems to found friends
