Heat - Coggle Diagram
Heat
What are some sources of heat?
things that produce heat ARE sources of heat!
Heat from the sun keeps the earth WARM!
Heat can also be obtained by burning FUELS!
wood, oil, coal, natural gas, petroleum!
what is heat?
Heat is a form of energy that makes things hot
We cannot SEE heat but can feel its effects!
What is the difference between heat and temperature?
Heat
Heat is a form of energy that MAKE THINGS HOT!
Temperature
Temperature is a MEASUREMENT OF THE DEGREE OF HOTNESS!
The HIGHER the temperature is, the hotter it is!
We use a thermometer to measure temperatures accurately! Does not mean our sense of touch tells us if something is hot or cold, it cannot be measured correctly!
There are various types of thermometers! The 2 common ones are:
Clinical thermometer
To measure the temperature of your BODY
Laboratory thermometer
To measure the temperature of objects and substances during the Science Experiments
How to use!
Step 1: Hold the thermometer upright!
Step 2: Look at the level of the liquid in the thermometer!
1 more item...
The unit to measure temperature is DEGREE CELIUS
What are some effects of heat gain and heat loss in our daily lives?
Change in temperature!
When an object GAINS HEAT, its TEMPERATURE INCREASES. However, when an object LOSES HEAT, its TEMPERATURE DECREASES!
Changes in states of matter!
When a matter GAINS or LOSES HEAT, it can CHANGE IN STATE!
How does heat flow?
Heat always flows from a HOTTER to a COLDER place or object until they reach the same temperature!
e.g: when a pot of water is heated over the fire, the pot and the water in it gain heat from the fire!
