Knitting machines
Circular Knitting Machines: These create a continuous tube of fabric. They're great for producing t-shirts, socks, and leggings
-
-
Flat Knitting Machines: These knit flat panels of fabric. Sweaters, scarves, and polo shirts are commonly made with flat knitting machines
Knit vs Weave
Knitting: Interconnected loops of yarn form the fabric. Imagine a chain – loops are linked together. It has a natural stretch and drape.
Weaving: Two perpendicular sets of yarns (warp and weft) are interlaced. Think of a grid – vertical and horizontal threads are woven together. It offers less stretch but can be more stable
Gauges: The number of needles linearly arranged in a specific measure of length. It expressed in needles per inch
-
CAM:The knitting cam system is a mechanism in a knitting machine that controls the movement of the needles and determines the stitch pattern of the knitted fabric
-
Stitch Density: It is a measurement of total number of needle loops in a sq. area
stitch density=No.of.courses x no.of wales
