salts and prep, crystallisation - Coggle Diagram
salts and prep
preparation
-
reaction of an acid with an insoluble reactant
(all soluble salts except group 1 salts and ammonium salts)
reactants: a dilute acid (containing the anion) and insoluble base, carbonate of the cation of the salt
-
procedure
warm a sample of the acid in a beaker and add excess of the insoluble reactant (to ensure that all the acid has completely reacted)
-
-
insoluble salts: use precipitation
soluble salts (group 1/ ammonium salts): titration
soluble salts( all other soluble salts): reaction of an acid with an insoluble reactant
-
salt: an ionic compound which is formed when a metallic ion or ammonium ion replaces one or more hydrogen ions in an acid
-
solubility table
nitrates, ammonium, group 1 salts

-
CO3
soluble: group 1, ammonium (NH4)
OH- / O2
soluble: group 1, ammonium(NH4), barium (Ba), calcium (Ca)
