Importance
Temperature
Too high
-
Breaks hydrogen bonds in tertiary structure, changes the shape of active sites
-
-
-
Blood pH
Too high
More OH- ions which distrupt H-bonds, ionic bonds

Negative Feedback - a change from the set point trigger a response that cats in the opposite direction to the change. The system return back to the set point.
-
Positive Feedback - a change from the set point trigger a response that acts in the same direction as the change. This further amplifies the change.
Example
Some Na+ diffuse into neurone (slight depolarisation), so more Na+ diffuse into neurone (full depolarisation)
Childbirth
- Head of foetus pushes against cervix
- Nerve impulse from cervix transmitted to brain
- Brain stimulates pituitary gland to secrete oxytocin
- Oxytocin carried in blood stream to uterus
- Oxytocin stimulates uterine contractions and pushes foetus towards cervix
