Educational toys and games
My first thoughts
Type of game?
Board game - possibly a strategy game that teaches about important real world struggles
Card game - something with a form of flashcard for revision in the form of a fun game
Computer Game - one that teaches internet safety in a fun way, or programming or an equivalent
Type of toy?
Buildable
Flat pack, so that it can be shipped to clients easily
Customization, so that both parent and child would like it in the home
Some brick form, similar to Lego that could be made into other things
Interactive
Could be more interesting for the audience yet if they are younger they could struggle to grasp moving parts
Static
Better for younger audiences that require simple concepts to be taught in an easy way that requires very little input
Target age?
Toddler
Baby
Babies and toddlers have a profound lack of fine motor skills, an issue that could be addressed with a toy that improves this
Primary school
Primary school students have a basic grasp of academic concepts, yet could be helped with some form of STEM subject game that introduces them to important concepts at an early age :
Pre-GCSEs
A form of preparation for younger high schoolers about the GCSE experience, a form of game that helps them decide their preferred subjects and see how they would play out
Teach important skills
Ethics
Some form of game that teaches children to be good denizens of the earth
A game that shows the consequences of actions and other choices in the real world
First aid
CPR dummies for kids that teach the basic concepts
An electronic monitor that can give a game style score for how well you have done
Vocal instructions that the dummy can tell the child
Basic drug safety awareness
Problems linked to context
Children don't want to learn sometimes
Make the toy / game fun and interesting, so that then the child is almost tricked into learning, thinking that it is a normal game / toy
Through the design of the product, it could encourage a want to learn in the child so they become happier to learn and go to school
The appearance of the product, nice to have around the home or not
Parents may not want an ugly toy in the house
Try to make the toy fit the theme of the house
Customizable wraps so that it fits with the house
Customizable container so that it fits the theme of the house
The colors and shapes of the product so that it would spark the interest of a younger audience
Bright and garish colors will interest a younger audience
Strange shapes that the child may not yet have seen will also interest them
Ease to understand
Clear set of instructions
Simple construction that doesn't have many complex pieces, so even a toddler could assemble it

My chosen area
My chosen are is the teaching of advanced concepts in physics and it's relationship to STEM. How this could be made in an interesting way that helps the user in later life
My chosen client
My dad because he is both a parent and a teacher so will be able to give a well rounded opinion
