Engagement and Retention Through Movement
I am concerned with engagement, retention, and a lack of movement and exercise at their young age (2nd grade).
It is important because I think it will help students make better long term connections with movement.
What is the correlation between movement, engagement, and storing information in the brain?
or
How does movement improve engagement and retention?
For ADHD students???
For Lower achieving students
Conceptual Framework
Personal Interest
I feel that a lot of my lessons reach the majority, but miss the same types of kids on a semi-regular basis. My lower achieving students and my ADHD kiddos. I want to learn how better to engage all students.

Topical Research
What has been done that is related and how it was done. Helps to identify gaps in what is known and various approaches taken in the topic.
The existing research on the topic at hand. The "WHAT" of the study.
Theoretical Framework
Formal theories that can be applied to my topic- can come from the literature or be pieced together from more than one formal theory.

Also, I will take all the help I can get....I'm unsure of how to do this without a class full of kids because it's summer.

Preconceived Notions
I suspect that I will find that movement in the classroom can increase engagement and retention, but I imagine it will have to be done in a certain way. Like there will have to be a connection between movement and what is being learned. For example, when correcting sentences, we would stomp for a period and raise our arms for a capital letter.
I think that I will confirm that my teaching is lacking some elements that could enhance the experience and student learning. I know there is a lot of work to be done in our school with regard to "updating" to modern best practices and improving relationships amongst peers and colleagues.
