Formative
Definition: the process of gathering evidence of students learning, providing feedback, and adjusting strategies to enhances achievement.
Socratic Seminar: Students will be required to come up with minimum of 5 questions to bring to the discussion. They will rotate in asking questions to be discussed aloud and answering all questions asked. A minimum requirement to participate to ensure all are engaging in the discussion.
Chapter Quizzes: Students will have a weekly quiz over the chapters that they are assigned reading to ensure they are staying on track with the reading as well as comprehending the story.

Interim/Benchmark
Definition:See where students are in their learning during the year and if they are on track for future assessments.
STAAR: The state of Texas standardized testing to assess the students knowledge they have learned throughout the year.
Mid-term paper: Students having to write an essay to determine how much they have achieved up until around halfway through the coursework for the year and if they are track.
