sources that will not run out, such as wood
non-renewable
Some primary energy sources such as coal, oil, gas, and uranium will run out. They are non-renewable. We cannot get more during our lifetime.
Non-renewable resourceswill run out, but renewables will not.
Energy is a quantity, so is transferred from one store to another.
There are different energy stores including chemical, gravitational potential, elastic, kinetic, thermal, and nuclear.
Energy is transferred by heating, anelectric current, forces, and radiation including light and sound.

Wave power is generated with a chamber on the shoreline. The waves force water up and down inside it. The motion of the water forces air backwards and forwards through a turbine, which makes a generator spin to generate electricity.

Gravitational potential energy or GPE is the energy that something has because of its position. It is another term for ‘energy in a gravity store’ , or ‘energy stored gravitationally’ .
Kinetic energy is the energy that something has when it is moving. It is another term for ‘energy in a kinetic store’ , or ‘energy stored kinetically’ . A running lion has lots of kinetic energy.
When things move up and down, energy is transferred between gravitational and kinetic stores. Energy is dissipated by friction and air resistance.
Elastic potential energy, also known as elastic energy, is the energy stored in an elastic object when a force is applied to deform it. The energy is stored as long as the force is present. When the force is released, the energy is converted into another form according to the conservation of energy law.
