Uncountable nouns are nouns that cannot be counted, and that only have a singular number. For example: some rice, peace.
Examples of uncountable nouns
They cannot be preceded by cardinal numbers (one, two) or indefinite articles (a, an). Yes, they can be preceded by possessive adjectives (my, your) or the definite article (the). For example: my faith.
They only have a singular number. For example: some cheese
They do not have plural. Although they cannot be counted, the weight or the container containing them can be counted. For example: one kilo of rice, a cup of coffee.
Time / time (uncountable)
I don't have much time. / I do not have much time.
Business / business (uncountable)
Business is business. / Business is business.
They cannot be counted. For example: some water. (It is not correct to say I'd like “one” water).
Countable nouns are countable nouns that have plural and singular. For example: one apple, two oranges.
Examples of countable nouns
They have number (singular or plural). For example: one teacher, three teachers.
When used in the singular, they must be preceded by cardinal numbers (one, two), indefinite articles (a, an), the definite article (the), or possessive adjectives (my, your). For example: a student.
They can be counted.
For example: two cars.
The plural is formed by adding -s (flower / flowers), or -es (bus / buses).
(!) Exceptions: irregular nouns. For example: child – children, foot – feet, tooth – teeth.
Business / business (uncountable)
Business is business. / Business is business.
Time / time (countable)
I already told you three times that you can't go to the party. / I've already told you three times that you can't go to the party
Quantitative adjectives are those that express quantity in an imprecise or lax way. For example: Tamara is very hungry.
They belong to the group of indefinite adjectives, which are those that do not describe the noun but specify its scope, with the particularity that they do so in a barely approximate way.
Examples of sentences with quantitative adjectives
There were very few people in the bar for a Saturday night.
Every day I call my mother and ask her how she is.
It rained a lot, that's why the grass is so wet and there's so much mud.
I've corrected too much, so I'm going to take a nap.
Ciro is a little sleepy, that's why he feels annoying.
He ate and drank a lot, although he left enough food for the rest.
He ate so little lunch that he wouldn't eat anything again until dinner.
The elderly man has great difficulty walking on his own.
