DIMENSIONING OF CIRCLE, ARC, AND THE HOLE
IMPORTANCE OF TOLERANCE
- If tolerance is not, exact measurement of the parts must be made. Rejection rate will very high.
- The range of tolerance will translate into the manufacturing method needed, since different manufacturing method has different degree of tolerance.
- Same parts can be made from different companies and they have to be interchangeable. Tolerance ensures good quality control for parts from different companies.
- Tolerance will ensure that mating parts of an assembly interface and fit well.

CLEARANCE FIT: have allowance for 2 parts to move, like a door hinge
INTERFERENCE FIT: difficult to remove the interfacing parts. A lot of force is needed to remove the 2 parts. Examples are shafts that fit through bearings, so that shaft does not slip.
