reading strategies
repeated reading of familiar text - be of developmental level - 10 mins 3 times read learner to learner - to parent or other
wide reading - ample reading material appears to range of interests access these in community - encourage to write short book reviews/ recommend
coached reading - similar to guided reading teacher controls level of text + feedback on queues - lead into more challenging texts small groups for 10 min
Terminology:
automatic reading - reflex/ sight words: recognised immediately seen, phonemic structures aren't analysed or relevant/ reading by analogy - using known spelling patterns to read unknown words/ prosody - use of correct expression/ accuracy - no. of words correctly read/ rate - words per min/wide reading - reading across genres + topics which include articles, books, adverts, comic books etc/ literal reading - comprehensing obvious info in text/ inferential reading - comprehending nunances + underlying messages of text

assessing components teacher needs to evaluate comprehension profiency - lateral + inferential reasoning
Fluency - oral reading is wobbly + slow that by time reach end of sentence, forgotten beginning - saying is not reading
