Types of WR
Regular word - made up of letters that represent most common sounds/ 3 steps: s1: sound out word/ s2: say word quickly/ s3: sound out word in heads before reading it alound
Irregular word - teach useful words 1st, often seen the most in stories + info book/ no set rule/ managable chunks
Story reading - opport to apply newly learned decoding strats in connected text- to read familiar stories build accurancy in wr + fluency / praise students
Vowel - consonant e- patterns - include words consonant seperates vowel silent e resulting preceding vowel saying its names
letter sound relationships - teaching sounds associated with individual letters + combo/ teach common letter- sound relationship/ seperate confusing letters/ pace instruction based on learner
Advanced WR - developing skills to decode cpmplex words using morphlogy + etymology/ recognise larger word chunks/ intro common letter combo before less common ones/ grad increase complex based on progress + text exposure
