Since the 1980s, robotic development has progressed rapidly. In 1984, WABOT-2, capable of playing the organ and reading complex sheet music, was unveiled. Soon after, robots capable of interacting smoothly with people were being produced affordably. By the end of the decade, the groundwork for Deep Blue, a computer capable of defeating the world's highest-ranked human chess player, was laid. In the 1990s, Honda introduced its P-series humanoid robots, followed by ASIMO in 2000, which could converse, recognize individuals, walk, run, and manipulate objects, representing significant advancements in humanoid robotics.
