Sequencing
During the 70s, scientists were able to determine the pattern of bases in RNA and DNA of certain organisms
This pattern, called gene sequencing, let scientist know the exact arrangement of DNA or RNA responsible for creating a specific type of gene
Naturally, this made altering, adding and removing genes easier for scientists as they have a deeper understanding of what they are doing
New products
During the 80s, scientists kept experimenting with genes
As it was expected, genetically modified products (normally plants), started to be offered in groceries and supermarkets
The first genetically modified product offered to the public was a tomato that stayed firm long after it was picked
In 2003, scientists had a complete scan of the human genome
This advancements allowed the development of new medical treatments, especially aimed to the elimination of ganes that can cause illneses
Today, many products contain genetic modifications

Genetic engineering is replacing common chemistry, as more enviromentaly firendly and even products can be produced with these tecnique
Crops aren't the only thing modified to create better products. In Texas, farmers are hoping to use cattle clones to produce a bigger quantity of quality meat.
