MODERN CULTURE
SECULARISM
The original definition meant the separation of church and state. The church does not want the government running the church and the church does want to run the government.
The modern definition is life without God. A person can believe in a God, but keep God out of everyday life.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
The modern use of secularism is in complete revolt of the old traditions and values. The current culture sees the old traditions and values as strict, hypocritical, and legalistic.
Christians should not wonder why America has subscribed to secularism. America was founded on religious principles but was not a Christian nation. Religion was the glue that held society together. There were Great Awakenings and revivals because churches and pastors were not preaching the real and true Gospel.
Interesting that the founding fathers realized religion is what holds a society and culture together. They were so close but so far away.
My thoughts: I believe we are seeing a society, culture, and generation rebelling against their parent's generation and ideals.
