Effects
Increased risk of paralysis, side of body affected by opposite side of the brain.
P – painful, scary, long term problem, cant do tasks alone
I – re learn skills, can’t work till recovered, may never work again
E – depression, hopeless, anxiety, frustrated, confused
S – can’t communicate, mental health cause to stay home, can’t go out
Ischaemic stroke
Blood clots blocks artery in cortex and prevents blood with oxygen and nutrients reaching cells so cells and nephron cells die.
Haemorrhagic strokes
Weakened blood vessels in cortex burst. Blood doesn’t reach cells of cortex, pressure of leaking blood which has nowhere to go, as it is confined in skull, passes down tissue of cortex and damages/kills cells .
